Sex and Aging: The Seven Secrets of Sensual Seniors

A few years ago, when the first of the baby-boomers reached their mid-fifties, a paradigm-shift occurred regarding attitudes towards “growing old.” Supported by longitudinal research studies, new phrases like, “healthy aging,” and “active aging” appeared. To many people’s surprise, researchers discovered that most older people want to, and are able to, have a sexually satisfying old age.
The respected sex-educator, Gilbert P. Mansergh, M.A., uses carefully selected movie clips to illustrate the societal myths and developmental realities of aging and sexuality. The truth is, that for gays or straights, singles or couples, our senior years can be times of eroticism, passion and profound intimacy. (Handouts Included)
NOTE: Couples are encouraged to attend together How to Have a Healthy Marriage and Happy Teens at the Same Time!

Couples are often surprised to find that the challenges of parenting teenagers has a negative effect upon their marriage. On top of work requirements, financial concerns, need for personal time, and possibly having to care for aging parents, the added stress brought on by hauling kids to sports practice, community events, and school and church functions can overwhelm us. Couples suddenly find themselves on opposite sides regarding the enforcement of family “rules” with their children and discover they have less and less opportunity for communication with each other—both practically and sexually. In blended families, where other people’s visiting and custody schedules must be considered, things are often much worse.
But there are solutions to these problems. Gil uses carefully selected movie clips as examples of the different developmental stages both teens and parents are going through. He also shares with us how interpersonal dynamics have shifted in our Post 9/11 world, and offers a dozen practical solutions to make sure every member of your family has the time to appreciate each other. NOTE: Couples are encouraged to attend together How Hitchcock’s Childhood Fears Shaped His Films
Alfred Hitchcock earned the right to be called the “most famous director of cinema’s first century” by creating some of the most memorable and suspenseful visual experiences ever put on film. The shower scene in Psycho, the crop-duster plane attack in North By Northwest, the feathered-friends as killers in The Birds, the rooftop chase and fall in Vertigo, the innocent victim railroaded by the system in The Wrong Man, the voyeuristic atavism of Rear Window, and the death by scissors in Dial M for Murder are all distinctly different but still distinctly Hitchcock.
A genius who carefully constructed his films to play on the audience’s fears and dreams, Hitchcock brought his own demons to the screen. Join the “Screeenings” and “Cinema Toast” film critic and educator, Gil Mansergh, as he uses numerous film clips in an entertaining and insightful discovery of Alfred Hitchcock’s deepest secrets.
Presented to a standing room only crowd at Marin County’s first Film Therapy Conference in 1999, this famous keynote presentation prompted San Francisco Chronicle staff writer Peter Stack to dub Gil a “Hitchcock expert”.
